About Cookaborough - a guide for Care Providers

Government Programs

Cookaborough helps Care Providers connect their clients with trusted, compliant local meal providers across Australia. Our platform makes it simple to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining the highest standards of quality, care, and compliance.

About Cookaborough

Cookaborough is a software platform used by small to medium-sized meal businesses to manage pre-orders of ready-made meals. These businesses serve local and hyper-local communities across Australia with nutritious and appetising meals for individuals and families who are planning their weekly meals or looking for dinner solutions.

Our clients use the features of our platform to automate many time-consuming aspects of running their business. This includes helping them manage the complexities of servicing the Support at Home (SaH) and NDIS programs, making the process as easy as possible for the meal provider, the recipient, and the Care Provider.

An easy way to think about our clients is as a curated collection of local, high-quality meals made by independent business owners. This gives customers alternatives to mass-produced, national commercial options.

We also provide a national public search tool that lists Cookaborough meal businesses approved to supply Support at Home customers. This can be used by both recipients and Care Providers to identify suitable local meal options.

Through our network of over 100 meal providers across Australia, we’re proud to help facilitate meals for more than 5,000 Support at Home recipients and 300 Care Providers.

As Cookaborough is not a meal provider, the relationship exists between the recipient or Care Provider and each individual meal provider. However, Cookaborough can also establish direct partnerships with Care Providers to streamline the onboarding of meal providers and provide additional support services.

About our clients

Our clients are food businesses that prepare ready-made meals. They range from professional chefs with Michelin-star restaurant experience, to commercial kitchens with larger production capacity, to registered home-based cooks servicing local customers with quality home-style meals.

Many offer menus that change weekly, others rotate seasonally, and some have year-round options that remain consistent.

While some Cookaborough clients primarily serve the general public, many now also provide meals to over 5,000 Support at Home customers.

To demonstrate the types of businesses we work with, here are a few examples of Cookaborough meal providers currently servicing Support at Home customers:

Why partner with Cookaborough meal providers

High-quality meals with variety

Meal providers on Cookaborough often use fresh, locally sourced ingredients and prepare meals from scratch – setting them apart from mass-produced, commercial alternatives. Many offer rotating or seasonal menus, giving recipients variety and the opportunity to enjoy wholesome meals that change weekly or throughout the year.

Local connection and choice

Recipients can connect directly with the people preparing their meals – strengthening community ties and offering a more personal, transparent meal experience.

Transparency for informed choice

Each menu clearly lists ingredients, allergens, and dietary tags to help recipients make informed meal choices. Many providers also include Nutrition Information Panels, supporting recipients with specific dietary needs.

Easy ordering and invoicing

Recipients can order online, over the phone, or in person – whatever suits them best.

Invoices are automatically generated at the time of purchase and formatted to meet Support at Home requirements, including allocation to Business Service ID SERV-007 – Meal Delivery.

Support at Home compliance

All Cookaborough meal providers adhere to the meal requirements for in-home aged care as outlined in the Aged Care Act 2024.

We maintain ongoing relationships with sector stakeholders to adapt quickly to reforms, and as a platform supporting many providers, we can implement regulatory changes at scale to ensure all businesses remain compliant.

Our commitment to quality and care

Cookaborough’s values of quality, care, and connection underpin everything we do – from how we design our platform to how we support meal providers, Care Providers, and recipients across Australia.

We design with end users in mind, ensuring the platform is intuitive for older Australians, their families, and Care Providers to use. At the same time, we provide meal providers with the tools, training, and guidance they need to maintain best practice in food safety, nutrition, and compliance.

Our commitment to ongoing best practice includes:

  • Specialised Support at Home concierge team – providing expert guidance on eligibility, compliance, and program requirements

  • Assisted onboarding – assisting recipients to register directly or coordinating onboarding through referrals from Care Providers

  • Best practice resources and training – helping food businesses maintain quality, compliance, and consistency in service delivery

  • Compliance management – monitoring and supporting adherence to the meal requirements for in-home aged care and the Aged Care Act 2024. Learn more HERE.

  • Dedicated support – our team is accessible by phone or email for all stakeholders, including recipients, Care Providers, and meal providers

Frequently Asked Questions

How do recipients order meals?

Support at Home recipients can order online from their meal provider’s weekly menu or by phone if preferred. They are only required to pay their 30% meal contribution upfront, with the remaining 70% invoiced directly to the Care Provider.

Are invoices compliant with Support at Home requirements?

Yes. All orders for Support at Home recipients are supported with itemised invoices that meet the Support at Home Program Pricing Schedule (2025).

Each invoice allocates costs to the appropriate Business Service ID SERV-007 – Meal Delivery.

Can I partner with Cookaborough?

Yes. While Cookaborough is not a meal provider, we can establish direct partnerships with Care Providers to help streamline the onboarding process for meal providers and offer additional support services.

Do meal providers charge a service fee?

Some meal providers apply a small service fee (capped at 5%) to Support at Home transactions.

This fee recognises the additional time and cost involved in managing funded customer accounts — including creating client and Care Provider profiles, processing invoices and payments, and providing phone order support.

The fee is assigned under Business Service ID SERV-007 – Meal Delivery, as it is considered part of the meal preparation process and complies with Support at Home pricing and claiming rules.

Incorporating this fee into a meal provider’s overall menu pricing is not an equitable approach, as not all customers require these additional administrative services.

Takeaway

Cookaborough helps Care Providers connect their clients with trusted, compliant local meal providers who deliver nutritious, high-quality meals with care.

Our platform brings together everything needed for a smooth and reliable meal service – easy ordering, compliant invoicing, variety for recipients, and confidence for Care Providers.
