It’s important to know that food you purchase is made by people who know how to prepare and package it safely, in a kitchen that is food safe.

Food Standards

We require everyone using the Cookaborough platform to comply with food safety standards applicable to their specific food business. This means complying with legislation in the Australian and New Zealand Food Standards Code (FZANZ) and also with the Food Act in their relevant State or Territory.

THE KITCHEN

Registered Kitchens

Kitchens preparing the food for sale must be registered and have a permit to operate with their local council. We check these permits before the business is able to publish its first menu. Every year an Environmental Health Officer from the local council spot-checks the kitchen to ensure all regulations are being adhered to.

Preparing Food Safely

In order to sell food through Cookaborough, we also require that the people preparing the food have the relevant food safety competencies. This means that they need to inform us of their qualification as Food Safety Supervisor with a registered training organisation before launching their first menu.

Labels, allergens and dietaries

When you browse an item on a menu, you will see all its ingredients and any allergens. Dietary categories also help you identify the most appropriate choices for you and your household.

Once the meals are made, the labels for your meals are created automatically in our system once a recipe is created so you can rest assured that the label is accurate for the meal you are about to enjoy.
